Neck Pain / Wiplash
Whiplash commonly associated with motor vehicle accidents (MVA), defined as a neck sprain, neck strain, or neck pain. It also can be sustained many other ways, such as falling from horse, bike, sport injury, or over- stretched -position. Whiplash related to a sudden distortion of the neck is not a diagnosis; it is a collection of symptoms from a sudden neck injury. Symptoms such as neck pain may be present directly after the injury or may be delayed for several days.
- Neck pain and stiffness
- Headaches, most commonly at the base of the skull
- Dizziness
- Blurred vision
- Fatigue
- Difficulty concentrating
- Memory problems
- Ringing in the ears
- Sleep disturbances
- Irritability
In TCM pathogenetic process view, it involves Qi and blood stagnation, body fluids and turbid phlegm acumulation on the first stage. If it goes chronic stage or gradually onset the symptoms, the strained tendon can influence to Zang organ(LV, KI) and the blockage from tissue injury can lead to Qi and blood deficient symptoms.
